"Valley Asphalt Corp. of Cincinnati, Ohio, was named a finalist in
the competition for the prestigious 2004 NAPA Ecological Award for a Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Facility, co-sponsored by Roads & Bridges Magazine.
Valley Asphalt Corp.’s plant in Troy, Ohio, is located in an industrial and residential neighborhood. The company has taken a proactive approach in environmental stewardship with this facility. It is equipped with a Hauck Eco-Star Burner for tighter environmental controls on emission and noise. The company uses other controls, including water trucks and brooms and a truckload washing bay to assist with dust control around the plant’s paved entrances and lots."
"Valley Asphalt Corp. has had other HMA facilities honored for environmental excellence. As part of Valley Asphalt’s community outreach efforts, it invites students from local colleges to visit the plant as part of a “Student for a Day” and similar programs. The company hopes through these tours to encourage engineering and construction management students to learn more about HMA and to consider careers in the industry."
