Our Green Initiative
Valley Asphalt wanted to make a positive impact on the environment with LEED certification. Our first step in the process was to convert our 7940 Main Street location in Newtown into a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified facility. We transformed our plant and produced a more sustainable design, therefore, making us and our customers more environmentally friendly. LEED promotes sustainability by recognizing performance in five areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Warm Mix & Porous Asphalt Pavement
There are 2 million miles of paved roads in the United States, and 94% of them are surfaced with asphalt. We are always on the cutting edge of introducing new products that may fit our customer needs.
Our warm mix technology can provide a more environmentally friendly asphalt pavement. By reducing the mix temperature we can reduce energy consumption and increase our recycling. We can also achieve better compaction on the road and extend our paving season, and increase hauling distances.
Porous asphalt pavement gives you better efficiency with storm water management by eliminating the need for traditional pipe systems. Run off passes through the pores of the asphalt pavement into a retention basin below the pavement allowing a natural perculation/cleansing process of the storm water. This product may also be able to help you get LEED credits towards storm water management.
Ask your current salesperson if either of theses products might be of benefit to use on your next job.
