Industrial Products

Piqua Materials Inc. is located in the heartland of the plastics and elastomeric industries, providing a cost savings on freight and shorter time in transit. Most Piqua Minerals Fillers are available in dated, color-coded bags, palletized and stretch wrapped. Day-to-day quality control on filler production is maintained at the plant which borders on the quarry site. All Piqua Minerals Fillers are produced from a high calcium limestone ( see Chemical Analysis ) which is quarried from the Brassfield geological formation; one of the whitest and most consistent formations in Ohio.

  • Piqua Minerals Filler 30 - 3 micron median, 100% thru #325
Finely ground material with low oil absorption and high packing properties for sheet molding compounds, bulk molding compounds, thick molding compounds and fiber reinforced plastics - all widely used in the automotive, marine and recreational products industries. Other applications for this excellent filler are vinyl compounds, polypropylene, polythylene, adhesives, masics, caulks, elastomers and reaction injection molding. (Available in bags only)

  • Piqua Minerals Filler 60 - 6 micron median, 99.5% thru #325
    Piqua Minerals Filler 70 - 7 micron median, 97.0% thru #325

General purpose fillers intended primarily for elastomeric compounding. Likely applications in elastomers include footware, houseware, lawn and garden equipment, recreational equipment, aircraft and automotive parts. The material also may be used in some FRP, SMC and BMC compounds at less cost than more finely ground fillers. (Available bagged or bulk)

  • Piqua Minerals Filler 300 - 18 micron median, 60% thru #325
    Piqua Minerals Filler 200 - 44 micron median, 50% thru #325

Coarse, low-cost, general purpose fillers for caulks, sealants, ceramics, asphalt compounds, epoxy casting compounds, floor tile and certain elastomers. These fillers have highly consistent properties so compounding can be standardized. (PMF 300 - bagged or bulk, PMF 200 - bagged only)

  • Piqua Minerals Filler 600 - 53 micron median, 45% thru #325
A roofing grade filler suitable for asphaltic and roofing filler applications. May also be used for concrete leveling injection material (Slab Jacking). (Available bagged or bulk)
  • Piqua Minerals Filler 1800 - 90 micron median, 30% thru #325
Suitable where a coarser filler with less fines is required. (Available in bulk only)

Agricultural Products

All of Piqua Materials' agricultural products are produced from high-calcium limestone (see Chemical Analysis) quarried from the Brassfield geological formation. It is then crushed, kiln dried and pulverized into feed grade and agricultural sizes.

  • Agricultural Limestone - pulverized limestone can be used for soil neutralization and nutrition. Limestone supplies essential plant nutrients calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg). It also increases microorganism activity which helps release nitrogen, phosphorus, boron, sulphur, and other elements from the soil organic matter while helping to get rid of toxic iron and aluminum. This makes fertilizer phosphorus more available; therefore making limestone a good investment to help fertilizer work. Limestone costs a fraction of a cent per pound compared with phosphate (P2O5).

  • Lawn and Garden Limestone - Agricultural limestone bagged for distibution through lawn and garden stores.

  • Feeding Limestone - finely ground limestone used as a supplement in livestock feed.
